Well, I already had a bunch of scraps precut thanks to Bonnie Hunter's scrap user system, so I took the plunge into Marge's Super Stash Bowl (see previous post for more info). I had a lot of 5 inch squares, so figured I would start with those. I followed Marge's directions and ended up with almost 300 HST's without having to cut any more fabric so thought I would start there. Here are the layouts I am considering:
First is just a typical Light and Dark pattern
Can't remember what this one is called, but another variation.
Last is a pinwheel version.
I like all of them, though I am leaning towards one in particular. Which is your favorite? I would love to hear which you think I should work on. I do have 4 inch squares waiting patiently for me to get to them, also. That all depends on how much of this one I get put together tomorrow, plus I still want to get at least one UFO sandwiched and ready for quilting. I haven't even touched those this weekend!
Tomorrow I will fill you in on an outing with Shellie and Regina, a present, some winnings and some purchases. So many things..so little time!!!
I like the 2nd and 3rd layouts; I think they have a little more zing to them!
ReplyDeleteI like the second one the best. Your eye travels around the quilt top. the third one is very busy and your eye picks up certain colors like the reds and the first one makes your eye notice the dark to light contrasts.
ReplyDeleteI like the pinwheel layout. Are the triangles already sewn together. If yes (looks like it), the sewing will done quickly since that the blocks are bigger now.
ReplyDeleteI like the second one best, too! Looks great!!
ReplyDeleteI like the 2nd and 3rd. 3rd the best. Try another variation of the 3rd and 2nd... hmm.
ReplyDeleteYou are so smart! I love the second variation. Can't wait to see what you end up doing.
ReplyDelete2 or 3... both have some zing.
ReplyDeleteAre those your cut up shirts? I have been cutting, but not resewing ... yet. This would be a fun way to use them!
I like the second one the best!
ReplyDeleteI like the second one best -- which, by the way, is called "Barn Raising." I don't have any guess as to which one you chose to do, but I know that's the one I would choose to do, if it were me. --Lydia (thepoch[at]aol[dot]com)
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Reenie: How smart are you! I like number 2-- barn raising. I am home from vacation and did a little sewing yesterday. I hope to be in the studio this afternoon. And, eventually will actually blog one of these days. I'm hoping I have some half square triangles that I can play without sewing. I'm afraid they'll be 2 1/2" squares though!
ReplyDeleteThe second one.

I like the pinwheel version best, but #2 is nice too.
ReplyDeleteBarn Raising is always a favorite of mine - rather it be HSTs or logcabins... I just love it! ;)
ReplyDeleteLove from Texas! ~bonnie
I like the 2nd one the best. But #3 comes in a close second.
ReplyDeleteI have been wanting to make this quilt to reduce my stash and YOU have INSPIRED me!! I love all of them, but especially the barn raising design. Can't wait to get started! Thanks for sharing! Pat in snowy Delaware. http://sunlightthroughmywindows.blogspot.com
