I finally finished quilting Allegany Rings today. This is finish #2, so 3 more to go before I can start anything new. It was 2 weeks ago that I had this already to quilt. The problem was, in part, to not knowing HOW I wanted to quilt it. I actually started quilting the border areas TWICE and ended up ripping them out. They were just too fancy for me for this quilt. So, I ended up just doing a meander pattern on the borders also, as I did the center. The rings are outline stitched and there is a vine and leaves done on the red sashing. The rest is just simple, large meandering. I think it suited the quilt. Nothing fancy, just simple. What do you think?
Off to figure out what finish #3 should be!
That is beautiful. I think you chose well for the quilting. I've decided that this is the week I'll start cutting some scrap flannel into quilt pieces. If I keep putting it off I'll never get started. Once I cut the scrap pieces up I'll know how much more I need to put together blocks. You inspire me so much with your beautiful quilts. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteGreat job! I always like meandering for scrappy quilts because you lose just about anything else in the fabric. Congrats and #2 and looking forward to seeing what you choose for #3!
ReplyDeleteLove it!!!
ReplyDeleteDo you do your own quilting? It is amazing!! I love it!

Nice job! I agree, busy quilts need basic quilting so that the fabrics are center stage!
