This is to document my love of and obsession with fabric and quilts! The true, guilty story of buying "just a little bit more", of shopping at thrift stores for the extra large mens shirts to use in your next quilt..and yes..even eyeing up your best friends blouse wondering if she'd notice if you "borrowed" it and just how many 2 inch strips you could get out of it!

Shh..this is one of those rare one footed quilt tops! Don't make too much noise or you might scare it off! lol
Well, I haven't gotten the borders on yet, as you can see, but here is my Christmas Lights quilt top. I really have to start taking pics during the day when there is more light. As soon as I do get the borders on, I will take a better pic of the finished project. I am really please with this one. I know there were some folks who didn't like the layout all that well in this mystery, but I think with my color choices, it worked out well. So far I am 3 for 3 on loving the mysteries that I have done. Boy...am I lucky or what??!!
I am rapidly accruing too many tops, though. With this one, I will have 5 tops that need to be quilted. Well, 2 of those need borders, also. Plus the Loopy over You that is half quilted. My finger is finally up to quilting, I think, so that is it. You heard it here. NO MORE QUILT TOPS UNTIL I QUILT AT LEAST 2 OF THESE TOPS!! Sorry for yelling, but I need for you to hear me and to hold me accountable. Sigh..this is going to be soooooooo hard. I have so many more I want to start on. Hmm...maybe if I already have a top started I could finish it....or if I at least have the fabric cut out....or if I own the fabric..or know what fabric I want to get for it.......

Maureen, it looks awesome!!! I didn't start this mystery, but I have the first 2 parts and I am thinking that I will absolutely have to do this one. Great job!
ReplyDeleteI didn't start this one either BUT I am enjoying seeing everyones tops.
ReplyDeleteNote, there is no reason to quilt the tops before you start something else. Even if the top NEVER gets quilted it can still be gifted. I have tons of tops that may end up as donation pieces or gifted to the grandkids when they get older etc... I have enjoyed finishing projects given to me and assume someone else will get a kick out of finishing my UFO's Sew when you feel like sewing, Five is a nice start.
Only 5 to be quilted. I have loads. I still make more tops before I get the finished ones quilted though. It's hard to resist making more tops
ReplyDeleteLove and hugs Gina xxx
I'd love to have a stack of tops needing to be quilted - then it would mean I had completed some of my projects! ;)
ReplyDeleteLove your Christmas Lights - I haven't started putting my blocks together yet but I better get on the ball about it since I want to give it to my husband for Christmas. I've been showing him the different settings that others have shared - but he is a stickler for the original pattern ;)
Love from Texas! ~bonnie
Love it, love it, love it! I can't wait to see the finished product!
ReplyDeleteP.S. I thought I had already commented on here!
