Did you miss me??

Wow..look how long it has been since I posted last! No time for sewing these past few weeks. I was too busy with work and taking care of Joe and his broken ankle. He ended up having surgery on it (plate and a half dozen screws) and is now on the mend. He gets his hard cast on Wednesday..and then his wisdom teeth out on Thursday! Well, at least it will keep him out of trouble! lol

I did finally get a little time in the sewing room and finished up my Kitchen Sink quilt top. It measures in at 58 x 63 1/2. This pattern is from Kim Brackett's Scrap-Basket Surprises. I really love this pattern, but I goofed up in some of my color choices and used lights that ended up being too dark, so the pattern gets lost. Sigh..that's okay...I still like it!! I added an extra border as hers measured in at 53 x 58 3/4. I don't get quilts that size. Don't get me wrong, I love her patterns, but the sizes for the quilts are all small. Not big enough to snuggle under, yet not little enough to use as table toppers. What are quilts that size used for?? I just don't get these small quilts. What do you guys think? Oh, here is a pic:

I have LOTS of plans on getting old projects done and new ones started so will hopefully have more to share soon. Will be tough though, the nice weather is here and I need to be planting. We will see what wins out!!

  2. I like the quilt. Glad Joe's surgery went well. I'm still praying for him. Being laid up is hard for young people, especially at the end of the school year.

  3. You're so fast. You don't miss a beat even when you do not get to sew all week. You still get so much accomplished. Awesome. I think it turned out great.

  4. I love that pattern-so much that I bought the book just based on that quilt pattern. Poor Joe-broken ankle and getting his wisdom teeth out. Just watch the straw drinking-lol.Should have sent him some soft foods instead of candy.

  6. I hope Joe is recovering OK? It's just not been his month has it?

Your quilt is great, it's going to make a lovely cozy quilt.

  7. Size -- it breaks a lot of my rules . . . which I break all the time too . . . quilts shouldn't be bigger than one width of fabric wide for the back. (I hate sewing backings together but ... It is square. (So are the last few I've made that aren't big enough..) But it is a great scrap quilt. I need to look to see if I have that book... And are those bare feet in, if I remember correctly, NY ... upstate NY???

Hope Joe is doing well on recovery. But someone is really mean to make him have his wisdom teeth out now. Although maybe it makes sense to get it all done at once... Take care. And, keep the quilting going... B.

  8. Just found the blog and hence the photo of the quilt. It looks great. Wish I could stop prevaricating and get on with some of my UFO's.
