Christmas is in the air!!!

Yay! Today is part 2 of the Christmas Quiltalong weekend. I missed yesterday due to a baby shower for my niece. I made Bonnie Hunter's Dancing 9 Patches for my soon to be great nephew: Now, I am stumped as to what I am going to do with my wonky log cabin I am making for the Challenge of the quiltalong. So, I am putting that on hold for today and am hoping one of the quiltalongers (like how I just made that word up??? lol) can help me! Last year, one of our hostesses had a tutorial for napkins that folded up into Christmas trees and, of course, I can't find it now that I want to make them!! Does anyone have that link or remember who shared it?? While I wait for an answer on that one, I will be working on other things. Shellie is coming to eat, sew and drink with me today!! We are going to be working on some pillowcases that we donate yearly at our retreat in October. I am going to put some time into my leaders/enders quilt as I have lots of tiny 9 patches to add to it and maybe even start on a new baby quilt. I have another great niece and great nephew due in a few months!!!! Off now to check on what everyone else was working on this weekend!!!

  1. Your quilt is adorable! Dancing 9-patches is a great pattern. Will have to check it out. I'm not sure about the napkins...maybe Sharon from Vrooman's Quilts? I remember seeing them, but my memory of who made them is short! Enjoy your day!

  3. I thought it was Lesley at The Cuddle Quilter, but I couldn't find the post. I did find this tutorial http://www.lynbrown.com/decorative-tree-napkins/ and this one http://sewing.craftgossip.com/tutorial-folded-fabric-christmas-tree-napkins/2009/12/01/

Hope you can use one of them. It's the folding that's the trick.

The baby quilt is lovely; that's a great gift.

  4. Really nice quilt, Reenie - love the little border separating the piano keys; and also the corner 9-patches.

  5. That quilt is super cute!! You do such nice work and i love your use of scraps.

About five years ago I made dozens of those napkins. Good place to use the decorative stitches on modern machines. It looks like garland. I also did some on my serger with a metallic thread for the overlock portion.

  8. Your baby quilt is great, the colours are lovely. I see that you have been given a link for the seviettes, but if you need one, it was Paulette over at SweetP Quilting who showed us how to do them last year.
